The Cheviot Westwood Community Association was founded in 1925 under the name Cheviot Westwood Business Association. For years, the group consisted of members of the business community only. Following the inaugural WestFest in 2002, the group changed its name to The Cheviot Westwood Community Association. The renaming of the organization allowed for residents as well as members of the business community to assume an active role in the betterment of our neighborhoods.

Although lots of changes have taken place over the years, the group still hosts the annual Young Citizens Banquet(first held in 1964). The banquet honors local eighth grade students who were chosen by their school teachers and administrators based on their community service and community spirit. The banquet affords for these outstanding young people to be recognized and praised for their efforts.

Since its formation, CWCA has become and integral part of the Cheviot and Westwood area by holding the annual West Fest, the largest street festival on the west side. The first year was a single-day event which drew 20,000 people to Cheviot to sample local food items, listen to wonderful local music and get together with friends. WestFest is now a two-day event, held the last Saturday and Sunday in June.

A portion of the proceeds from WestFest are used to benefit the Thomas J. Rebold Foundation for The Performing Arts, which provides funding for local youth fine arts programs.


CWCA also offers its support for the community by offsetting the cost of the City of Cheviot's annual Nativity display. Most recently CWCA has purchased new Christmas decorations that adorn Harrison Ave., Glenmore Ave. and North Bend Rd. during the holiday season.

The Cheviot-Westwood Community Association works closely with Cheviot City Administration to make improvements and maintain quality within the business district and residential areas.

Moving forward, CWCA will work individually and collectively to foster and promote a real community spirit, dedicated to growth and prosperity in the place we call home.
